Welcome to the City of Hope Postdoctoral Training Office

The Postdoctoral Training Office (PTO) is privileged to welcome you to City of Hope, where scientific discoveries are translated into treatments and cures for human disease. City of Hope provides the ideal environment for postdoctoral fellows to develop outstanding careers in biomedical science.

Here, postdoctoral fellows train in the scientific environment where key insights into genome structure, tumor suppression, and epigenetic control were made, and where the core technologies that led to the first biotech products, human insulin and growth hormone were developed. Postdoctoral fellows at City of Hope build on this legacy by working in world-class laboratories that use advanced molecular and cellular tools to develop successful therapies.

The PTO augments the elite laboratory-training environment at City of Hope by providing a rich complement of professional skill development opportunities that help guide postdoctoral fellows toward future success in a competitive employment landscape. The Individual Development Plan Program guides the postdoctoral fellow’s training by matching his, or her skills and aptitude with possible career paths.

A program of seminars apprises postdoctoral fellows of the diversity of careers in science, while workshops provide a means of developing skills important for attaining them. Personal employment counseling is offered to postdoctoral fellows eager to develop the most effective job application and interviewing strategies. Together, these programs form an effective strategy for placing postdoctoral fellows in successful scientific careers.

The PTO eagerly encourages you to join with City of Hope in moving forward the frontiers of biomedical science and disease treatment.  We are prepared to assist you in meeting the challenges of your postdoctoral research career, and beyond.
