Love Out Lavender is a new online fundraising platform targeting beauty and fashion artists, calling on them to create their own campaign to raise money to conquer cancer. In partnership with Modern Salon and City of Hope's National Professional Salon Industry, the inaugural campaign benefited the pioneering research at City of Hope. A total of 700 members of the beauty industry created campaigns and donated, raising $10,000 to support City of Hope. Founder Todd Kane lost his mother to cancer in 2014 and was inspired, by her courage, to create this platform. He is further inspired by his husband, Eddie Kane, a cancer survivor, and of the name, Kane says that the color lavender stands for all cancers: “Love conquers all; lavender represents them all.” The mission of Love Out Lavender is to prevent, survive and ultimately, conquer cancer.

Sponsors raise funds for cancer research by choosing an awareness ribbon to illustrate the focus of their fundraising. Their pages are then customized with images, messages, stories and dedications. Using social media, sponsors promote within their community, with supporters adding their own messages with donations. While the platform is available year-round, the campaign runs from World Cancer Day, which is Feb. 4, to National Cancer Survivor’s Day on the first Sunday of June. Funds raised during that time qualify sponsors to be featured in the November issue of Modern Salon Magazine and the annual Love Out Lavender calendar, which is distributed between June and November.   Visit Love Out Lavender to create your own page >> Learn more about the National Professional Salon Industry group >>
