On Thursday, Nov. 5, the Irwindale Police Department hosted a press conference on the City Hall lawn to present City of Hope with a check for $20,000.

This press conference was the culmination of a 10 month-long fundraising program called “Pink Patch” that the police department created in order to raise awareness and funds for City of Hope. Monies were raised by selling ‘Pink Patches” that resembled the police officers badges and T-shirts with the same logo.

When City of Hope met with Chief Anthony Miranda in January to discuss the stewardship, they set a goal for $10,000, never thinking they would double that goal and how much it would touch the lives of those who contributed to the program.

Due to the success, they intend to duplicate the effort next year with City of Hope as their nonprofit of choice for a second time.
