Bertha ourHope share (2)Bertha Alamillo is on a mission to keep her mother's memory alive. Her mother was treated for multiple myeloma at City of Hope, and to honor 'the hero of her life,' Alamillo launched her ourHope fundraising page. "I'm glad City of Hope has the opportunity to set up a page to raise funds. This is a small token from my family, and I'll continue to always support City of Hope."

By creating her own personal fundraising page on ourHope, Alamillo raised $2,700 (and exceeded her goal) to help fund myeloma research and treatment at City of Hope. She personalized her page by adding photos of her mother and family, and shared it with family and friends, receiving nearly 40 individual donations.

In addition to providing Alamillo a platform through which to honor her mother's memory, ourHope also enabled her close friends and family to offer their support and encouragement.

"Your love for your mom is a beautiful thing. She lives on in the loving ways you continue to honor her memory," commented a friend on Alamillo's ourHope page.

City of Hope's ourHope is a personal fundraising platform, designed for supporters to create pages dedicated to any of 34 different areas at City of Hope — designating which one drives their passion. Create a tribute page, such as Alamillo did. Pledge your birthday, in lieu of gifts. Honor a caregiver, someone who went above and beyond for you or a family member - perhaps directing funds to your doctor's research.

Alamillo's tribute to her mother honors her memory by furthering research to help those who come to City of Hope for treatment, and for patients around the world.
