For over 30 years, David Horak, M.D., has been a fixture at City of Hope, and for most of that time he has led our Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. In addition to working with lung cancer patients, Dr. Horak diagnoses and treats patients suffering from severe respiratory disease, like emphysema or COPD. 
 
Dr. Horak graduated from Stanford University and received his medical degree from University of California, Los Angeles, going on to complete his internship, residency and fellowship in pulmonary medicine at UCLA/Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. 
 
Dr. Horak also serves as Medical Director of City of Hope's Intensive Care Unit, as well as Medical Director of our Pulmonary Physiology Laboratory. A key player in City of Hope's continuing medical education programs, he moderates regular conferences examining the latest diagnosis and treatment strategies.
