Who Should Apply

City of Hope seeks candidates who have received or are expected to receive an MHA, MHSA, MPH, or MBA from a U.S based university, preferably from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) and/or the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), prior to the start of the fellowship year. In addition, candidates must hold and be able to maintain U.S. legal residency throughout the fellowship year.
Applications from non-CAHME or AUPHA programs will be accepted for review. 
Candidates should exhibit the following qualities:
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Have the ability to manage multiple activities, tasks, projects and meet deadlines
  • Be self-motivated and team-oriented
  • Possess strong financial analysis skills
  • Demonstrate excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

How to Apply

The application for our 2020-2021 Administrative Fellowship program will be open from June 12, 2019 to October 2, 2019. City of Hope is a member of the National Council on Administrative Fellowships (NCAF) and adheres to the dates set forth by the “Code of Good Practice” for application deadlines, offer dates, and offer acceptance timeframe. City of Hope will accept all applications directly through NCAF’s National Administrative Fellowship Centralized Application Service (NAFCAS), through October 2, 2019. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Application Requirements to be submitted on NAFCAS website:
  • NCAF Homepage (Includes standardized application dates and overview of Code of Good Practice)
  • Cover letter (addressed to Joel Helmke)
  • Current résumé
  • Three letters of recommendation (at least one professional and one academic)
  • Official graduate school transcript
  • Statement of intent (two page max, double spaced addressing why you are interested in an administrative fellowship and specifically why City of Hope)

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of three phases.
  • Phase One: A select group of candidates will be contacted for phone interviews.
  • Phase Two: Final candidates will be invited to City of Hope for on-site interviews with members of the executive team.
  • Phase Three: Offers will be extended by November 13, 2019.
