Intensive Course Track 2: Full Spectrum Distance-only Training

Phase 1

(a) Attendance in a Web Conference Orientation session on Friday, October 20, 2017, (8:00-11:00 a.m. PT), and
(b) Complete 14 weeks of Distance Learning Modules with weekly Live Web-based discussion sessions every Friday morning (8:00-10:00 a.m. PT), and
(c) Participate in five (Live or Recorded) GCRA Case Conferences (Live Case Conferences are on Wednesdays, 10:00-11:30 a.m. PT), and
(d) Attend one Topics in Cancer Genetics Research (TOPICS) session (Fridays, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.)
Dates:  October 19, 2017 through February 16, 2018

Phase 2 (no on-campus workshops)

Course requirements include:
  • Core Curriculum Modules:  3-4 assigned weekly
  • Pre/Post-case Scenarios
  • Pre/Post-course Knowledge Test
  • Weekly Friday review Web conferences
  • Five live or recorded Working Group case conferences
  • At least one Topics presentation
  • Pre/Post-surveys
  • Case Presentation (minimum of one risk assessment case from your practice)
  • GCRA Feedback Form (to accompany GCRA case conferencing)
  • Two brief homework assignments (One risk assessment, one Progeny pedigree drawing)
  • Prescribed Phase 3 Professional Development Activities (through one year post-course)

Phase 3

Once the course is completed, Alumni are required to complete the self-directed post-course Professional Development Activities summarized below (and listed on the CCGCoP Portal) over the next 12 Months.  
  • Attend at least 2 and lead/present at least one Live Topics in Cancer Genomics Research (TICGR) Web session
  • Attend at least 5 and present 2 cases during any of the live GCRA Case Conference Sessions offered at City of Hope, University of Chicago, and/or The US Oncology Network.
  • Post at least 5 times on the CCGCoP Discussion Board
  • Conduct professional/lay educational outreach activities
  • 1 Year Post Course Professional Practice Survey  
  • 1 Year Post Course Professional Self-efficacy Survey  
  • 1 Year Post Case-based Skills Scenario
  • 1 Year Post Community of Practice Survey
