The Irell & Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences was founded in 1994 with an incoming class of four students, and the first doctoral degree was conferred in 1997. Since then, the graduate school has grown steadily to over 90 students and 110 faculty members. The school continues to expand by recently adding a Master of Science in Translational Medicine (MSTM) joint program with the Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI).
