Mark Wakabayashi, M.D., is an accomplished surgeon who focuses on treating ovarian, cervical, endometrial and other gynecological cancers. As chief of the gynecologic oncology division at City of Hope’s department of surgery, Dr. Wakabayashi and his team are experts in minimally invasive and robotically-assisted surgeries, which can be as effective as traditional surgery but with reduced scarring, pain and recovery time.
Dr. Wakabayashi is also an expert in cytoreductive/debulking cancer surgery, which can significantly improve outcomes for patients by enhancing radiation and chemotherapy effectiveness.
Dr. Wakabayashi earned his medical degree at the Loyola University of Chicago and a Master of Public Health from University of Hawaii’s Stritch School of Medicine. Prior to City of Hope, Dr. Wakabayashi has practiced at John A. Burns School of Medicine in the University of Hawaii, Kapiolani Women’s and Children’s Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center at Moanalua.
