Bassam Ghanem, M.D. is an oncologist, hematologist and assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medical Oncology and Therapeutics Research.
Dr. Ghanem received his medical degree from Damascus University in Syria before continuing his general surgery residency at Damascus University Hospital. He completed his internal medicine residency at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in New York and his hematology and oncology fellowship at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, also in New York.
After 13 years in hematology and oncology private practice, first in Tampa Bay, Florida followed by Simi Valley, California, Dr. Ghanem joins City of Hope in our Simi Valley facility.

I was not happy with this Dr at all. I had a different Dr, but she left. This Dr didn't even seem to know barely anything about me. Asking me questions he should have known. If he has a new patient he was given, read the chart before seeing the patient. - Verified patient

He did not take time to explain test results. Even though I asked, he just said he wasn't concerned about the high numbers. Just indicated that spleen was a little increased, but didn't give an explanation as to why. I felt that we didn't get a very good explanation on the the test results. - Verified patient
