Courtney Bitz, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.

Courtney Bitz is the clinical social work manager in the Department of Supportive Care Medicine. She has been in the field of psycho-oncology for over 16 years and has extensive experience working with couples who are facing a cancer diagnosis.  Her clinical expertise includes cognitive behavioral therapy, couples counseling, problem solving and strategic therapy, and gender strengths-based interventions.

Bitz spearheaded the development of the Couples Coping with Cancer Together Program which provides strength-based education and support to patients diagnosed with cancer and their partners.

Bitz has published in Oxford University Press, Psycho-Oncology and Journal of Supportive Care in Cancer. She has presented her work at international and national professional conferences including, the 19th World Congress of Psych-Oncology, The American Psychosocial Oncology Society and The Association of Oncology Social Workers. She has been an invited speaker for Pfizer, BreastCancer.org, Google and Stupid Cancer.
