Hengyou Weng, Ph.D.

Hengyou Weng obtained his Ph.D. from Sun Yat-sen University, China in 2012, where he studied the biological function of RNA G-quadruplex structure and the roles of microRNAs in chemoresistance in leukemia cells. He joined the lab of Jianjun Chen, Ph.D., in the University of Chicago in 2013 as a postdoctoral scholar and moved to University of Cincinnati with the lab at the end of 2014.

Weng focused on the biological consequences of DNA methylation and RNA methylation in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In 2017, he relocated to City of Hope with the Chen lab as an assistant research professor. Weng continues to study RNA epigenetics in AML and hopes to translate his research into clinical use.
