As a pathologist and hematology specialist, Karl Gaal, M.D. directs the Hematopathology Fellowship Program at City of Hope, providing specialized training to talented pathology students pursuing academic and community practice careers.
 
Dr. Gaal joined City of Hope in 2000. He received his medical degree from University of California, Davis and served as a resident at Harbor-UCLA in Torrance, California before completing a hematopathology fellowship at City of Hope in 1999.  He served as Hematopathology Fellowship Program Director for 12 years.  He currently practices as a hematopathologist and surgical pathologist.
