Sharon Clancy, M.D., became part of the City of Hope family in 2009 after six years training in general and plastic surgery at University of Southern California. She also completed postgraduate training in microsurgery at the University of Gent in Belgium prior to joining City of Hope.
Dr. Clancy is passionate about helping patients get back to resuming normal life activities after cancer surgery with reconstruction. She is deeply involved in seeking to increase the percentage of breast cancer patients who opt for reconstructive surgery after mastectomy. She works closely with medical and surgical oncologists to determine the best reconstructive procedure for each individual patient.
She also specializes in the treatment of lymphedema, a swelling that develops due to the abnormal collection of fluid beneath the skin, most commonly in an arm or leg. This can occur when lymph nodes are removed or damaged during cancer treatment.
Dr. Clancy graduated with honors from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School.
