PGY1/PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Programs

The Postgraduate (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency at City of Hope is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
 
Pharmacists completing this program will be competent and confident clinicians capable of directing patient care in many environments.
 
At the conclusion of the program, residents will be able to:
 
  • Be responsible for achieving optimal drug therapy outcomes as members of a health-care team.
  • Skillfully educate other health-care professionals and patients on drug-related topics.
  • Exercise leadership in improving the safety of the medication-use system.
  • Demonstrate professional maturity by following a personal philosophy of practice, monitoring their own performance and exhibiting commitment to the profession.
     
While in the program, participants will also:
 
  • Complete projects chosen with the program director’s input
  • Attend educational meetings and conferences
  • Gain experience in hospital pharmacy administration through a structured program provided by the director of pharmacy.
  • Be given the opportunity to obtain ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) certification.
 
The residency program starts on June 30 of each year.
 

Requirements

 
  • A registered California pharmacist license is required for this residency program.
  • Each resident may be required to staff all services provided by the department.
