The Local Industry Tour is a way for members to tangibly connect with the miraculous work being done at City of Hope
Inclement Southern California weather was no match for a loyal group of business products executives attending the annual Local Industry Tour held December 16, 2016, and hosted by long-time City of Hope supporter Bob Enk, president of the Professional Sales Association and National Business Product Council member.
“City of Hope has meant so much to me personally and to our industry, which has supported it for more than three decades,” said Enk. “The tremendous progress we’ve seen in cancer and diabetes research and treatment at City of Hope is promising. To know that much of it is a result of the ongoing support from the Business Products Industry provides tremendous satisfaction. We know our efforts are helping those who need it most. The NBPI Center for Biomedicine and Genetics, City of Hope’s Helford Clinical Research Hospital, the NBPI Cellular & Tumor Immunotherapies Center and now the newest NBPI Chemical GMP Facility -- each is a landmark on City of Hope’s campus and each is supported by our industry. We’re proud to continue partnering with City of Hope and building on the industry’s legacy of compassion and care,” added Enk."
Rain subsided and clouds parted for our industry tour participants, who represented various segments of the industry, including national wholesalers, mega dealers, independent dealers, manufacturer representative groups and industry friends.
“The annual tour is a way for our members to tangibly connect with the miraculous work being done at City of Hope and the impact that it has on more than 100,000 patients throughout the world,” said Enk. “Each year, it also kickstarts the NBPI Annual Fundraising Campaign, this year honoring Steve Schultz of GOJO Industries.”
The tour was highlighted with presentations from four prominent City of Hope physicians and researchers, including Dr. Joseph Alvarnas, Dr. Christine Brown, Dr. Russell Rockne and Dr. Debbie Thurmond, and by special patient speaker, Pat Tashma.
