RESTORING HOPE Campaign

This year marks the 40th year the National Business Products Industry  has supported for City of Hope. In 2022, we celebrate Peter Scala, Chief Merchandising Officer at Staples as the 2022 NBPI Spirit of Life Honoree and activate the RESTORING HOPE fundraising campaign in the industry’s continued support of City of Hope’s life-saving mission to finding the cures to cancer, diabetes and other-life threatening illnesses.
 

Peter Scala – 2022 NBPI Spirit of Life Honoree Bio

As Chief Merchandising Officer, Peter oversees Staples’ entire products and services offering, and is responsible for ensuring that businesses can find the right workplace solutions to fit their needs.
 
Most recently, Peter served as executive vice president of merchandising for Staples marketplace, leading the rapid expansion of Staples’ product assortment to support small and mid-size business customers. Peter and his team’s efforts helped to grow Staples beyond office supplies and have helped redefine how customers think of Staples. Prior to his current role, Peter held a variety of leadership positions within merchandising, including senior vice president/general merchandising manager technology. As senior vice president, technology innovation, he led key advancements as head of Staples Future Tech and Best Tech initiatives.
 
Peter joined Staples in 1996.
 
Peter started his career over 31 years ago at Lechmere, a dominant regional consumer electronics chain located in the New England. At Lechmere Peter spent several years in stores before moving into the buying office where he held several buying positions.
