Employee Giving Opportunities
Activity kits, personal hygiene kits filled with everyday necessities, and toys and games can help provide comfort and distraction for patients going through treatment at City of Hope. When these items are provided through charitable donation, City of Hope saves millions of dollars—funds that instead go toward life-saving research.
Check with your HR manager for details regarding kit-assembling events and toy drives planned at your division. Below are lists of the types of items we’ll be collecting and/or purchasing for City of Hope. The list isn’t exhaustive, feel free to get inspired.
It’s all about providing a distraction to help pass the time during treatment. City of Hope recommends these kits contain things like:
- Crossword puzzles
- Sodoku books
- Coloring books
- Colored pens or markers
- Yarn and knitting or crochet needles
- Magazines (all types and subject matter)
- New and used books
- Ear plugs
Being stuck overnight at the hospital without warning can be frustrating and frightening. These are the kinds of essentials patients need:
- Dry shampoo
- Baby wipes
- Makeup remover wipes
- Deodorant (men’s and women’s)
- Unscented lotion
Toys and Games
City of Hope goes through thousands of donated toys and games each year. Happily, they also receive thousands of donations. In addition to holding toy and game drives at our divisions, TRI Pointe Group has rented a storage facility near City of Hope for the hospital’s use, so that these items are always close at hand.
Toys and games should be suitable for a wide variety of ages, from infants and toddlers through young adults. Toys should be new and in their original packaging. If you have any questions, contact your HR manager.
