National Hardware/Homebuilding Industry

In 1982, a small group of philanthropic leaders formed the National Hardware/Homebuilding Industry (HHI) with City of Hope. The group has grown to encompass a nationwide cross-section of manufacturers, retailers, distributors, home builders, builder supply chains, manufacturers' representatives and related members. Today, the HHI remains one of the strongest teams in City of Hope's national network of dedicated volunteers. Since its inception, the industry has raised more than $155 million.
This industry's support has been instrumental to City of Hope's advancements in research, treatment and education. A testament to the impact of these volunteer efforts, the Hardware/Home Improvement Industry Legacy Research Center, houses laboratory studies in virology, molecular pharmacology and molecular medicine, among others — the basic science that fuels future advances. This commitment has helped City of Hope transform medical science and save lives worldwide. There are a variety of other locations at the medical center that have been funded through donations corporate and personal gifts from industry members.
In 2018, HHI members and volunteers help raise over $3 million to continue the support for City of Hope's research, clinical and education programs. The funds were raised through industry events, personal and corporate gifts/donations, employee giving programs, direct mail and cause marketing efforts.
