Lions Clubs International Successful Partnership
Lions Clubs International and City of Hope share a core principle: humanitarian service and concern, and both organizations have made tremendous contributions for the good of mankind. Lions Clubs International has been an integral part of the City of Hope family for more than 60 years and their volunteer leadership has played a key role in the development of City of Hope's internationally recognized medical and scientific programs. At virtually every turn on the City of Hope campus there is a ready evidence of Lions' generous support - Lions Clubs around the world have contributed millions to City of Hope, funding cancer and diabetes research, providing the Japanese Garden in the cetner of campus and helping to extend hope and health to the world at large.
In 2018, with an official ribbon cutting ceremony with City of Hope and Lions officials, the Lions Clubs International Family Center at City of Hope was officially unveiled. The completion of the Lions Clubs Family Center fundraising program, provided a vast restoration of this crucial part of City of Hope's campus that enables patients to remain close to medical treatment and supportive care services while continuing their outpatient care. The improvements of the Family Center consisted of a renovation of the main lounge, which also includes an expanded computer area and patient library, an upgrade to the Family Center kitchen with new appliances, cabinets and countertops, installation of a new air conditioning system, an upgrade to the Cuervo Comedy Theater, and an expansion of the Family Center's front veranda, including a larger porch, garden landscaping, seating and a water feature. The Lions Clubs International Family Center has become a great asset to our patients and it is all because of the Lions Clubs commitment to humanitarian service.
