Jaroslava Salman, M.D., is assistant clinical professor and chief of the Division of Psychiatry in the Department of Supportive Care Medicine at City of Hope. Dr. Salman earned her medical doctorate from the University of P.J. Safarik in Kosice, Slovakia. She completed her residency in general psychiatry through the University of California Los Angeles-San Fernando Valley’s psychiatry residency program. She furthered her training with a fellowship in consultation liaison psychiatry at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center. Dr.Salman is board certified in general psychiatry and neurology, and consultation-liaison psychiatry.
 
In Dr. Salman’s own words: "What can be more rewarding than to have the privilege to help another person feel better? We cannot help everyone all the time, but when we do, it’s very gratifying. I have also been very interested in psychiatry since about high school so I guess I planned my path long ago … I find psychiatry to be one of the most interesting specialties. There is hardly anything more fascinating than human mind and behavior. Our patients always impress and inspire me with their resilience and strength that they show as they face some of the most difficult experiences one can go through. City of Hope understands and values the importance of mental health for our patients. Also, its history and culture is deeply rooted in humanity and compassionate service to all."
