Steve Perry fans don't stop believing; City of Hope benefits

CharityBuzz conducts experiential auctions online to benefit dozens of charities. City of Hope was recently the beneficiary of three, all courtesy of Steve Perry, former lead singer of Journey and part of the Music and Entertainment Industry's 2013 Spirit of Life® event to honor Rob Light, managing partner and head of music, Creative Artists Agency. A personalized signed guitar and albums went for $26,000, but it was the promise of a meet and greet that really brought out the fans.
One coffee date was auctioned for $75,000 and another, which added a signed guitar, closed at $100,000. Fans Melissa and Rob Smith said of their winning experience with Perry, "He's a first-class guy."
City of Hope received nearly $171,000 for the three auctions. The Music and Entertainment Industry is a nationwide network of music and entertainment executives committed to City of Hope's lifesaving mission. Since their inception in 1973, the Music and Entertainment Industry has raised more than $103 million.
