Dr. Patel graduated magna cum laude from Occidental College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. During medical school at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, she became a nationally ranked member of the National Racquetball Association. She completed her internship and residency training in internal medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where she also served as chief resident.
Dr. Patel is no stranger to City of Hope, as she completed fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology here.
Her interests include graduate physician education and wellness, intermittent fasting and cancer therapy, and understanding how the gut microbiome can influence people’s tolerance to cancer therapy, and novel ways to enhance care for breast cancer survivors. Most recently, she served as a discussant in the Symptoms and Survivorship poster session at the 2021 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting.
