Nitya Nathwani, M.D., FACP, earned his medical degree from Topiwala National Medical College in Mumbai, India, before moving to Southern California, where he completed his internal medicine residency at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center. He pursued a hematology-oncology fellowship at LAC+USC and the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Nathwani’s clinical and research interests center on multiple myeloma. He has been the principal investigator at City of Hope for several high-profile clinical trials in multiple myeloma and led a study of older adults with the disease. In addition to being a member of the Judy and Bernard Briskin Center for Multiple Myeloma Research, he is the Medical Director of hematologic malignancies, transplantation, and cellular therapy at AccessHope.

Dr. Nathwani has published several peer-reviewed publications, reviews and book chapters and has been invited to present his work nationally and internationally.

Dr. Nathwani has been the principal investigator at City of Hope for several high-profile clinical trials in multiple myeloma, including 2 landmark trials involving quadruplet induction therapy that has changed the myeloma treatment landscape, and a trial defining the role of transplant in the US. He led a multi-center study in older adults with the disease. His team performed a tablet-based modified geriatric assessment which influenced treatment decisions, while potentially increasing the safety of myeloma therapy.
