For the sixth consecutive year, City of Hope Orange County’s board-certified physician-scientists have been recognized as Physicians of Excellence by Orange County Medical Association (OCMA).
The prestigious honor recognizes physicians who stand out in their service to their profession, lifelong dedication to their patients, and commitment to the community they serve.
City of Hope Orange County’s 2025 OCMA Physicians of Excellence practice at City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center and throughout City of Hope’s regional network, offering patients the most advanced cancer research and treatment in Orange County. They are (from left):
- Robert Ash, M.D., a radiation oncologist who specializes in advanced radiation therapy for thoracic cancer, genitourinary cancer and breast cancer.
- Nairi Berner, M.D., an endocrinologist specializing in diabetes, endocrine and metabolism disorders.
- Cory Hugen, M.D., a urologist who specializes in bladder, kidney, testicular and other urologic cancers.
- Amanda Schwer, M.D., a radiation oncologist specializing in stereotactic radiation and other advanced radiation therapies.
- Venita Williams, M.D., a radiation oncologist specializing in advanced radiation therapy of brain tumors, head and neck cancers, sarcoma, lymphoma, breast, lung, gastrointestinal, gynecologic and pediatric malignancies.
- Nishan Tchekmedyian, M.D., deputy physician-in-chief and a medical oncologist-hematologist specializing in lung and prostate cancers.
- Jennifer Woo, M.D., a pathologist and medical director of the City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center Blood Bank and Transfusion Services.
- Samar Singh, M.D., an endocrinologist who specializes in endocrine disorders.
- Nerses Simon Tchekmedyian, M.D., a medical oncologist-hematologist who specializes in prostate cancer and therapeutics research.
