About Our Pricing Information

The health and well-being of our patients guide every decision we make at City of Hope. We are making our pricing information available to patients because we believe in creating transparency and providing our patients with access to crucial information as they make important decisions about their care.

We believe that the value of care is measured not only in terms of cost, but also in terms of patient experience and outcomes that innovative treatments produce to extend survival and improve patients’ quality of life. The information on this website, while important as an effort to provide transparency, is just one factor that patients and caregivers consider when making decisions.

This information is intended to provide an overview of certain aspects of pricing at City of Hope and the prices listed are not specific to each patient, Moreover, the foregoing pricing information does not reflect the charges for physicians, such as the surgeon, anesthesiologist, radiologist, pathologist or other physician specialists or providers who may be involved in providing services to a patient. These charges are professional services. Professional services are not listed and are billed separately. Importantly, while we can provide out-of-pocket and deductible information via our shoppable services functionality, your overall costs may differ depending on the course of your specific treatment.

How We Can Help

City of Hope is committed to providing patients and their caregivers with the information and support they need to make the best-informed decisions about their cancer journey. We understand that treating cancer can be costly — often due to expenses related to time away from work and care for dependents. Our social services, payment programs and financial counselors are intended to help make these cancer-related costs more manageable and help lessen their impact.

We also know health care costs, billing and insurance can be confusing. We strive to address patient questions with clarity and compassion and are committed to helping you understand all financial aspects of your care. Our financial counselors are available to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. We provide each patient and caregiver with the support and guidance necessary to meet their unique needs.

Determining Your Total Cost

Below is a link to the pricing and estimate tools for services provided by City of Hope. This data contains the services provided by City of Hope as of Jan. 1, 2024. These costs are uniform for all patients served by the hospital. City of Hope’s drug pricing reflects the individualized doses that take into consideration a patient’s age, height, weight, current clinical condition, co-morbidities, symptom management, and response to therapy. Medication pricing may vary based on these factors.

These costs rarely reflect the expected out-of-pocket expense for a specific hospital service. Your own out-of-pocket expenses will depend on one or more of the following:

  • The actual patient care services that you receive, treatment decisions, unforeseen complications, additional tests, or other services ordered by your physician, and the individual needs of each patient.
  • The terms of your insurance coverage, which may include deductibles, co-insurance, co-payments, policy exclusions, maximum benefits, pending financial assistance or pending state/federal program or other aid.
  • The actual cost of third-party supplies, items, or services that you receive.
  • Your eligibility for financial assistance.

Four Ways To Estimate Your Costs

1) Call Your Insurance

Your insurance company can tell you if the services you need are covered by your plan and provide you an estimate of the costs.

2) Contact Us

Email us at DL-Patient-Estimates@coh.org or call our Patient Estimate Team at 833-915-4673 for more information about your estimated costs. Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST.

3) MyCityofHope

MyCityofHope is an online tool, displaying up to 300 common services — also known as “shoppable” services” — at City of Hope. You can estimate what you are obligated to pay based on your insurance coverage.

Please note that this is only an estimate and doesn't include physician charges which are billed separately. Your total cost may vary based on changes in your treatment plan or length of stay, if you’re inpatient/outpatient, and any complications, etc.

This Estimate Includes the Following:

  • Charges for our hospital's outpatient facility
  • Services that are not considered preventive care screenings or interventions

This Estimate DOES NOT Include the Following:

  • Charges for physician services
  • Charges for any sedation or anesthesia procedures
  • Charges for any inpatient procedure/services
  • Charges for or services related to pathology or tissue examination
  • Any services that are specifically identified within the Affordable Care Act as being available to eligible patients with no share in cost.

Please note that your actual obligation will vary based on the services you receive, the negotiated rate with your health plan and how other health claims have been applied to your deductible and your out-of-pocket limits (as defined by your benefit plan). For the most accurate estimate of your likely obligation, please contact one of our financial counselors at (833) 915-4673.

4) Standard Charges

Our standard charges are a list of the official rates we charge for individual procedures, services and goods at our main campus in Duarte and our Arcadia Radiation Oncology site. These items are used to generate our invoices. Charges may change throughout the year and are refreshed at least annually. Pricing is also subject to change. Click here to download a machine-readable digital file.  This CMS required format is most directly useful for employers, providers and tool developers.
