“My motivation has always been: how can we do better?”

Karen Reckamp, M.D., a member of the City of Hope team since 2007, is heavily involved in clinical trials aimed at finding new and better treatments for lung cancer, especially in the most advanced and difficult-to-treat cases. Recently she led a study demonstrating the significant benefits of immunotherapy.

Dr. Reckamp's interest in cancer began early in life, and is personal: she lost several family members to the disease.

After receiving her medical degree at the University of Chicago, Dr. Reckamp worked at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine before joining City of Hope.
