Shan Yuan, M.D., is a key member of the team that ensures that each blood transfusion at City of Hope is conducted safely and effectively.
 
A multiple honors student dating back to her college days, Dr. Yuan received her medical degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and continued her training at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
 
Dr. Yuan has served as City of Hope's assistant medical director of transfusion medicine since 2012, following a five-year term in similar capacity at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine. She is a sought-after lecturer and prolific publisher on all aspects of transfusion and stem cell transplants.
