City of Hope is where I've brought my own family members… I will forever be grateful for the care they received. Shilpa Shahani, M.D. aims to bring the most advanced cancer care to City of Hope’s youngest and smallest patients. She specializes in immunotherapy – especially the exciting field of CAR-T cells - to treat children with leukemia and lymphoma.
Dr. Shahani has served as one of our on-call pediatricians as well as a respected pediatrics instructor, continuing a distinguished career that’s included Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Shahani received her medical degree from University of Nevada School of Medicine. She also holds a degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Shahani believes passionately in the concept of personalized medicine, a top priority at City of Hope. “One size does not fit all,” she asserted, “and we should aim to tailor treatment to a specific patient and their cancer's specific biology.” She says City of Hope is the ideal place to pursue that goal. “I can't imagine a better team for me to join.”
