A frequent and highly regarded expert when the media needs help understanding breast cancer, Courtney Vito, M.D., joined City of Hope in 2010.

Dr. Vito’s research interests include improving patient outcomes via intraoperative radiation therapies and nipple-sparing mastectomies. In addition to her clinical and research work, she is also involved in education. She created the curriculum for the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at City of Hope and is the director of fellow education for the Department of Surgery. Dr. Vito is editor-in-chief of the American Society of Breast Surgery’s Question of the Week CME program, and she serves on the Education Products Committee for the Society of Surgical Oncology. She has authored numerous papers and texts on breast cancer, including a chapter in the definitive surgical reference, Cameron’s Current Surgical Therapy.
