Pete Govorchin, M.B.A.

As president of City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, Pete Govorchin, M.B.A., leads a diverse team of medical experts, clinicians and talented professionals dedicated to providing equitable, compassionate cancer care for patients in the Chicagoland area. A respected health care leader, Govorchin is dedicated to building and strengthening relationships between City of Hope and other local health care systems, partnering with more government insurance options and designing pathways that give more patients access to leading-edge cancer care options and clinical trials.
Govorchin took on the role of president of City of Hope Chicago after multiple years as chief operating officer (COO) for Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), a national cancer network that merged with City of Hope in 2022. His role as a key leader in the merger between the two organizations—and his dedication to expanding cancer care in and around Chicago through working with multiple health care industry partners—was recognized in 2024 when he was named a Crain’s Notable Leader in Health Care. During his time as COO, Govorchin oversaw multiple locations nationally, including those in Downtown Chicago and the North Shore, facilitated a national expansion strategy for CTCA and led recruitment, business development, operations and finance.
A longtime advocate for improving access to health care, which he sees as a fundamental human right, Govorchin has played a critical role in many legislative and policymaking initiatives throughout Illinois. These include the creation of the Illinois Cancer Care is Different Coalition and the Illinois Cancer Patient Bill of Rights, which champion early detection and fair access to innovative cancer treatments. One of his greatest successes is broadening access to cancer treatment by negotiating the inclusion of five Illinois Medicaid plans, growing City of Hope’s reach in Illinois and reinforcing the organization’s commitment to health care equity.
Govorchin is a board member for multiple organizations, including Heart of the City, which offers high quality soccer programs for athletes; the Josselyn Center, which provides accessible mental health services in 300 communities; Access Lake, which is being designed to coordinate specialty care in Lake County; and is a member of the Libertyville Rotary Club. He is also a member of the Advanced Developmental Program and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Govorchin completed his undergraduate degree in finance and economics at Grand Valley State University in Michigan and a Master of Business Administration at Loyola University of Chicago.
