The High Throughput Screening Core facility occupies approximately 600 square feet of laboratory space in the Flower Research Building, and contains major robotic equipment, computers, freezers, a microplate washer and reader, tissue culture and benchtop working space.
Overlord3 Scheduling Software
Special supervisory software that allows the control of multiple instruments from one PC, Overlord3 operates in a Windows XP environment with an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface. Overlord3 utilizes the native software of ancillary equipment for maximum flexibility. It is easy to program the complex HTS method. In addition, the most complex instruments can be easily integrated with the scheduler. Device drivers for Overlord3 are available for more numerous instruments. We use the scheduling software to integrate the six equipments, including KiNEDx Robot, Beckman Biomek® FX, Tecan M1000 Pro Plate Reader, BioTek Elx405™ Select Auto Plate Washer, LiCONiC Plate Incubator and Thermo Multidrop Micro.

KiNEDx Robot
Programmable rotary robotic plate handler that shuffles microplates between specified instrument positions and plate racks.
The Biomek FX Laboratory Workstation is a flexible, automated liquid handling system with a large work surface accommodating almost any high throughput job size. The system comes configured with both 96-channel and Span-8 multichannel pipetting capabilities, simplifying high throughput automation in 96- or 384-well format, with up to a 240-plate capacity with the Stacker Carousel. Multichannel pipetting makes for rapid compound transfer and addition of reagents. Automated labware positions allow the researcher to customize the work surface with automated functionality such as shaking, stirring, heating and cooling for a given application; the integrated gripper frees the user from routine tasks like clearing the work surface to make room for more plates. An automated tip loader and Stacker Carousel storage likewise automate the routine task of providing disposable labware to the high throughput system. The Biomek FX software is easy to use and possesses features for precise and accurate pipetting, as well as automation tools such as the Software Wizard, making it simple to write methods to automate any task.
Tecan M1000 Pro Plate Reader
Microplate reader capable of handling all fluorescence, luminescence, absorbance, fluorescence polarization and time-resolved fluorescence detection technologies. The plate reader Includes Magellan 7.2 data analysis software.
BioTek Elx405™ Select Auto Plate Washer
A plate washer that is capable of washing 96- and 384-well microtiter plates. Users can adjust the flow rate, the dispense/aspiration volume and angle for applications from basic ELISA to cell washings.
LiCONiC Plate Incubator
Integrated incubator for a temperature-controlling reaction.
Multidrop Micro is a high-speed 1-µl bulk reagent dispenser that precisely delivers microvolumes of 1-50 µl into 384- and 96-well microplates. It is especially useful for high throughput screening assays set up with rare and/or expensive components.
ImageXpress® Ultra Confocal High Content Screening System
It is an automated confocal-scanning cellular imaging and analysis system as a benchtop point scanner. The system utilizes analyzing biological samples labeled with fluorescence.

epMotion 5075
The automated pipetting system that consists of 11-position deck and 1 thermomixer is under a sterile condition. The instrument utilizes cell-based or immuno assays, real-time PCR and sequencing preparation, serial dilutions, or concentration normalization.

PamStation® 12
PamStation 12 is a fully automated instrument using 3 x PamChip 4 microarrays. The kinase profiling array platform monitors kinase activities through phosphorylation of 144 Tyr or 144 Ser/Thr kinase peptide substrates containing 4 positive control ones. The data are analyzed with the advanced software BioNavigator. The technology utilizes signaling pathway analysis, selectivity profiling and response biomarkers of kinase inhibitor drugs and substrate identification. Recombinant purified kinases and lysates of cells, animal tissues and patient’s biopsy samples are used for the kinase profiling platform.
