Shana Wingo, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., joined City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix in 2023. As a gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Wingo focuses her practice on the diagnosis and management of all types and stages of gynecologic malignancies, including ovarian, cervical, uterine, endometrial and vulvar, with a special interest in emerging innovations in surgery and immunotherapies for gynecologic malignancies.
She has extensive expertise in complex pelvic surgery and minimally invasive surgery, which includes robotic-assisted surgery, having performed over 3,000 robotic procedures. Dr. Wingo is a comprehensive gynecologic oncologist, performing a wide range of surgeries, administering systemic and targeted chemotherapies, along with partnering with a multidisciplinary group of subspecialists to provide patients with the full spectrum of options needed from diagnosis through survivorship.
Dr. Wingo earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she also completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology, serving as chief resident, and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology. Having proudly cared for patients in Arizona since 2010, she continues to serve as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Arizona/Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, where she’s involved in resident and fellow education.
Dr. Wingo has published several studies in peer-reviewed biomedical journals and has given more than a dozen lectures, covering topics including health disparities, robotic surgery protocols, cancer genetics and molecular mechanisms that underlie gynecologic cancers. She is conversational in Spanish, and is a member of several professional organizations. These include the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American College of Surgeons, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
