Teja Poosarla, M.D., is director of medical oncology for City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago’s breast program, where she specializes in treating breast cancer using innovations in leading-edge therapies and techniques. Inspired to pursue a career in oncology in part by her grandmother’s positive experiences during cancer treatment, Dr. Poosarla recognizes the importance of a compassionate approach to care.
After earning her medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama, Dr. Poosarla completed her internal medicine internship and residency at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. She went on to complete a hematology/oncology residency at the University of Mississippi in Jackson, Mississippi.
Board-certified in medical oncology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with a special interest in early therapeutics and clinical research, Dr. Poosarla has conducted clinical trials and studies into new therapies and approaches to triple-negative and ER+ breast cancer. She’s a member of multiple professional organizations, and her research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals.
