Vivek Iyer, M.D., is the medical director of pain management and an interventional pain management specialist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix, where he helps patients with all types of cancer manage pain related to the disease and its treatment. Board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, Dr. Iyer treats both chronic and acute pain, focusing on pain related to surgical treatments.
Dr. Iyer completed his medical education at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine in Ohio. He then completed an internship at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, followed by an anesthesiology residency and a pain medicine fellowship, both at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
A diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Iyer founded City of Hope Phoenix’s Regional Anesthesia Program, which seeks to reduce patients’ use of narcotics after surgery. He has also been recognized by Cincinnati Magazine as a “Top Doctor in Pain Management” and by Phoenix Magazine as one of that city’s “Top Doctors.”
