Assistant Professor of Pediatrics YunZu (Michele) Wang, M.D., chose a career in medicine because it combined her interest in science with a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children. At City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, Dr. Wang specializes in bone marrow transplantation and gene therapy, giving back to the Southern Californian community where she grew up.
Dr. Wang graduated from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, before completing a pediatrics internship and residency, followed by a hematology-oncology fellowship at the University of California, San Diego/Rady Children’s Hospital. She also completed a subspecialty fellowship in pediatric bone marrow transplantation at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio, where she served as an instructor and then assistant professor of clinical pediatrics.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Wang has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Investigation and Blood Advances, and served as principal investigator on several grant-funded research projects.
