Anand Shah, M.D., M.P.H., is a hospitalist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, where he treats patients experiencing acute health problems or emergencies, including issues affecting the cardiopulmonary or gastrointestinal systems. Dr. Shah is a board-certified internist with many years’ expertise in hospital medicine and compassionate care.
Dr. Shah earned undergraduate degrees in both medicine and surgery in his native India, at Maharashtra Institute of Medical Science & Research. After completing an internship at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Warangal city, he served as an intensive care physician and general physician at several large hospitals in Mumbai.
After moving to the United States, Dr. Shah worked as a research assistant at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also completed a master’s degree in public health, focused on epidemiology, health care organization and policy. He then worked as an epidemiologist with the Somerset County Health Department in New Jersey, before completing a three-year residency in internal medicine at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, serving as associate chief resident.
