Cancer Second Opinions in Arizona

One of the most important decisions you’ll make on your cancer journey is who to trust with your care. Many patients make that final decision after seeking a second opinion on their diagnosis and treatment plan. At City of Hope — a national network of cancer experts who collaborate coast to coast — we understand that you need accurate answers, quickly.

That’s why, when you seek a second opinion at one of our Phoenix-area locations close to home, our cancer experts work to perform the comprehensive evaluation you need, with the urgency you deserve. When you make a second opinion appointment with us, you’ll get results you can trust, delivered by a team of specialists who will collaborate on treatment recommendations personalized to your individual diagnosis, needs and preferences.

Our goal: to provide an individualized treatment plan that gives you confidence in the road ahead and allows you to get back to your life as quickly as possible.

Refer a Cancer Patient

Our National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in Duarte, California, is a recognized leader in innovative discoveries and novel treatments that continue to revolutionize the fields of cancer research, prevention, detection and care. Now, with a national network that extends to the Phoenix and surrounding communities, City of Hope is able to transport this expertise to more patients in need. This means your patient will have access to leading-edge diagnostics and treatments — some of which may not be available elsewhere.

When you refer a patient to City of Hope, we build customized plans around your patient, including proactive recommendations, and ensure that, as a referring physician, you stay well-informed for seamless continuity of care. Patients with complex cases have access to the nation’s top subspecialists, with case reviews and tumor boards collaboratively reviewed by national experts to provide optimal information sharing and care across all locations. As part of a unified City of Hope system, many City of Hope Phoenix physicians have academic appointments in their clinical specialties to initiate knowledge sharing, promote collaboration on complex cases and, above all else, ensure quality patient care.

Cancer Clinical Trials

Clinical studies evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new approaches to treating cancer, either with new drug development, new technologies or by using existing treatments in new ways. New treatments often take years of study before they win regulatory approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While the trials take their course, they often offer participating patients new options that may otherwise be unavailable to them, especially after exhausting conventional cancer treatments.

We offer a robust precision medicine program that provides patients with the education and assistance they need to help with any financial barriers they may have. Since 2016, our locations in Chicago, Atlanta and Phoenix have conducted more than 15,000 next-generation sequencing tests. Over the last eight years, we have enrolled over 700 patients in precision medicine-based clinical trials. Our research team is dedicated to ensuring patient safety and a positive patient experience, continuously measuring our safety event rates, and performing better than available national benchmarks.

What to Expect City of Hope Phoenix

At City of Hope, we understand how critical the decision-making process is when facing a cancer diagnosis — and the anxiety that often comes with it. That’s why we strive to make becoming a patient as easy and stress-free as possible — from your first call and first evaluation to your diagnosis, comprehensive treatment regimen and post-treatment survivorship plan. And beyond. We’re here for you, every step of the way.
