Moved by her father’s own cancer journey, Cindy Chau Tran, D.O., felt driven to a career in hematology oncology. While sitting with her father during his chemotherapy for stage 4B lymphoma, she heard many stories from other patients and was inspired by their courage and humbled by their strength. This gave Dr. Tran a unique perspective on caring for patients and families, which drives her work every day.
Dr. Tran brings years of clinical trial experience, including breast & ovarian cancer research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and collaborative research with the National Cancer Institute.
Dr. Tran earned her medical degree from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed an internship with the University of California San Francisco-affiliated Alameda County Hospital and an internal medicine residency at University of Southern California (USC). Soon after, she completed a hematology oncology fellowship with USC’s Norris Cancer Center and University Hospital.
“I am excited about the future of hematology/oncology,” she says. “I believe that when others feel hopeless, it’s the hematologist/oncologists, with the help of their patients, who keep hope alive.”
