What Sets Our Phoenix Department of Radiation Oncology Apart?
Radiation therapy is one of the most common forms of cancer treatment, with up to 60% of patients receiving the treatment as part of their care plan. At City of Hope, we understand that while radiation therapy is a common treatment, each patient’s cancer is different and requires a unique, personalized approach.
Depending on the patient's needs and goals, he or she may receive radiation therapy alone or in combination with other treatments, such as chemotherapy, surgery and/or immunotherapy. Our radiation oncologists work with other doctors and clinicians to monitor each patient’s progress or modify the care plan, if necessary.
The team of radiation oncologists at City of Hope Phoenix uses leading-edge imaging tools designed to deliver high radiation doses to tumors, while sparing surrounding healthy tissue from exposure.
Radiation therapy may cause side effects, such as skin changes, fatigue, nausea and other issues. Our clinicians work in lockstep with supportive care providers to reduce patients’ side effects and maintain a good quality of life.
