Phoenix Rapid Lung Nodule Diagnosis Program
Learning that a CT scan or X-ray has revealed an abnormal spot or nodule on your lung can be unnerving and stressful news. At City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix, our team of cancer experts knows that time is of the essence and work quickly to provide you with an accurate diagnosis — in as few as four days.
The team of lung cancer experts at City of Hope Phoenix works quickly to provide a diagnosis and, if cancer is detected, work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your needs and carefully transition you back to your primary care physican’s care when your treatment is complete. You’ll meet with a team of doctors, who will determine which type of biopsy, if any, should be performed and identify other tests you may need.
Why Early Lung Nodule Evaluation Is Important
Lung cancer is the third most common non-skin cancer diagnosed in the United States and the most common cause of cancer deaths in America. But with screening, early detection and advanced treatment options, more lung cancer patients are living longer than ever before.
Quickly assessing the nature of a lung spot or nodule is critical, since patients have more treatment options available when lung cancer is diagnosed early. Patients diagnosed with lung cancer before it’s had a chance to spread have a five-year survival rate of 63%. That rate drops to 8% when the cancer has metastasized.
Our four-day diagnostic program gets patients the comprehensive care they need more quickly.
What Sets Our Phoenix Lung Nodule Program Apart?
Our doctors use state-of-the-art technology, including artificial intelligence, to diagnose lung nodules.
Our Phoenix lung cancer experts employ advanced diagnostic technology called Ion by IntuitiveTM, a, robotic-assisted artificial intelligence tool that helps doctors efficiently conduct lung biopsies on hard-to-reach nodules, which may allow them to diagnose lung cancer sooner.
