Our North Shore location offers consultations with doctors trained and experienced in hematologic oncology and medical oncology. They work with patients and their caregivers to determine which additional tests or scans may be required and develop a treatment plan designed for each patient’s unique needs.
The North Shore location offers on-site infusion services for patients on chemotherapy or immunotherapy. We also provide iron infusion services for patients with anemia or low iron caused by medical conditions, their treatments or dietary issues.
These procedures may be required to help diagnose a blood disorder or blood cancer or to determine the effectiveness of cancer treatment. They also may be required for genetic testing. Our expert staff will talk you through what to expect during a bone marrow biopsy and answer any questions you may have about the procedure or test results.
People with a family history of cancer may consider genetic testing to determine whether they carry inherited gene mutations that may increase cancer risk. Knowing more about your inherited cancer risk may help you protect your long-term health. For patients already diagnosed with cancer, test results may help doctors develop a more targeted care plan. Our North Shore staff includes experts in genetics who are trained to address genetic testing questions and concerns and explain test results.
The doctors at City of Hope Cancer Care North Shore collaborate regularly with supportive care providers to identify services to help address cancer symptoms and treatment side effects. These services, such as nutritional support, pain management and occupational rehabilitation, are designed to help patients stay strong during and after treatment and improve their quality of life.
Should patients require specialty surgery services, such as breast, urologic or gynecologic cancer surgeries, they can receive that care at our Zion, Illinois, hospital, located approximately 10 miles east of I-94 in northeastern Lake County. Our multidisciplinary team of surgeons is trained in several disciplines, including oncoplastic breast reconstruction, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and neurosurgery.
City of Hope Cancer Care North Shore is located conveniently near the Edens Expressway (I-94) and Westfield Old Orchard shopping center. Our practice is also near public transportation bus stops.
