3D Mammography for Early-Stage Diagnosis
City of Hope Orange County uses FDA-approved 3D mammography, also called breast tomosynthesis, to screen for breast cancer. This technology helps us find the early signs of breast cancer, at a stage when it is most treatable and has the best chance for successful treatment. In fact, according to the National Cancer Institute, the five-year survival rate for early-stage and localized breast cancer is 98 percent.
The new guidelines from The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) advise all women to get screened for breast cancer starting at the age of 40, with higher-risk people starting screening even younger.
