Why Choose City of Hope
Redefining Lung Cancer Care
Perhaps the most powerful message emerging from City of Hope’s lung cancer program is one of realistic optimism. Advances in surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapy have fundamentally altered the trajectory of the disease.
By combining multidisciplinary expertise, precision medicine and robust clinical research, City of Hope is helping patients navigate lung cancer with clarity, speed and confidence. As the science continues to evolve, we remain committed to translating discoveries into measurable differences in patients’ lives.
An Evolving Treatment Landscape
At City of Hope Orange County, lung cancer is no longer approached as a single disease entity. Over the past decade, it has become clear that lung cancer comprises multiple biologically distinct subtypes driven by specific molecular alterations.
Our physicians and researchers report that outcomes have improved substantially as newer therapies are translated quickly into clinical practice, expanding options for patients across all stages of disease. Today, even Stage 4 lung cancer is increasingly managed as a chronic condition for select patients improving both survival and quality of life.
EXPERTS IN THE FIELD
Our thoracic surgeons, medical oncologists, interventionalist, radiologists and others work collaboratively to treat aggressive and late-stage cancer, including complicated cases other institutions may have deemed untreatable.
BREAKTHROUGH INNOVATIONS
From minimally invasive techniques to robotic-assisted surgeries, leading edge technology helps our experts detect cancer earlier and helps save lives through earlier interventions.
OPTIMAL OUTCOMES
Investigational diagnostic testing, precision medicine, and our molecular and genetic testing capabilities speeds the development of new drugs and interventions and helps us tailor lung cancer treatment to each patient.
CLINICAL TRIALS
Our clinical research unit is the epicenter for investigational research that is transforming the latest treatments in cancer care. We provide access to more than 700 innovative Phase 1-3 clinical trials conducted at City of Hope each year.
