Welcome to Hope Plaza
Breakthroughs in cancer research have enabled a landmark transformation: Outpatient care is now the standard for most patients, replacing lengthy hospital stays away from loved ones. To optimize this transformation, City of Hope is opening Hope Plaza in early 2025, an outpatient cancer center that makes it easier than ever for patients to access early screening programs, clinical trials and specialty clinics. Hope Plaza is our new gateway to healing.

At eight stories tall and 350,000 square feet, Hope Plaza offers an abundance of outpatient services, including infusion spaces with stirring views of the San Gabriel Mountains and an expanded clinical research unit for patients to receive the newest cellular therapies. Here also is improved facilities for pain management, nutrition and other services that improve a patient's recovery. This extraordinary center also boasts the highest standards of energy efficiency and environmentally friendly design. Hope Plaza is a dynamic, healing space that matches the innovations City of Hope is making in care.

In the welcoming lobby, hope feels more real. With the building’s textures, colors and lighting, every detail is designed to help families navigate the physical, emotional and spiritual challenges of a cancer diagnosis. On the first floor is a café of healthy food and a pharmacy to easily complete the day’s therapies and consultations. Past the sunlit lobby are 32 blood draw stations and a lab to process samples much faster than when they had to be transported elsewhere on campus. Hope Plaza literally saves steps in the journey back to health.

Innovative and compassionate care, inside and out

Located just adjacent to Hope Plaza, the new Ted Schwartz Family Hope and Healing Park is an inspiring addition to City of Hope’s Duarte campus in honor of Ted Schwartz’s generosity. The park provides patients and visitors with a serene space to find respite and reflection, as well as a calming transition when arriving on or departing from campus. The gardenscapes feature native plants, lush trees and foliage, art displays and water features. Beyond its beautiful gardens, the park will offer numerous amenities, such as a farmers market, intimate seating arrangements and educational programming.
