An NCI-Designated Cancer Center
City of Hope’s flagship hospital in Duarte, California, has been a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center since 1998. To be recognized as a comprehensive cancer center by the NCI, treatment centers must meet the most rigorous standards in cancer care and conduct exemplary research that leads to new cancer treatments and therapies, while also demonstrating leadership in cancer care. City of Hope Duarte is one of only 50+ NCI-recognized comprehensive cancer centers in the nation.
National Comprehensive Cancer Network Designation
City of Hope Duarte is a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), an exclusive network of 33 member organizations nationwide that includes some of the top cancer centers in the United States. Each NCCN member is committed to exceptional patient care and innovative research. For the past 17 years, City of Hope Duarte has been named as one of the best hospitals for cancer in the United States in U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking — and for the past two years, the ranking has put City of Hope in the top 10. These recognitions are a testament to our clinical expertise, our patients’ experience during their cancer journeys, the superior health outcomes we produce, thanks to our high standard of care, and the breakthrough research City of Hope has become known for.

City of Hope’s nationally renowned nursing team has received Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Magnet recognition is given to only 9 percent of hospitals and clinics in the United States, including City of Hope’s locations in Duarte, Atlanta, Phoenix and Chicago. The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer has awarded City of Hope Duarte the highest possible level of recognition for our exceptional level of care.
