Renowned Breast Cancer Physician-Scientist Joins City of Hope

Hope S. Rugo leads the Women’s Cancers Program. Recently, she led a discussion on the latest advances in breast cancer research and treatment.

On June 16, City of Hope hosted a virtual Breast Cancer Research Forum led by Hope S. Rugo, M.D. The event brought together patients, caregivers, allied health professionals, providers, and community members to explore the most important updates in breast cancer research and treatment from the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting. 

Dr. Rugo joined City of Hope in April as the new director of the Women’s Cancers Program and new division chief, Breast Medical Oncology.

In this role, she will lead and enhance City of Hope’s women’s cancers research and clinical care across the enterprise, expand clinical trials and translational research, and standardize cancer care to achieve superior patient outcomes and experiences.
