When an Industry Moves Together, Hope Moves Faster

A look ahead at the 2026 NBPI Spirit of Life® campaign led by Greg Welchans

For more than 40 years, the National Business Products Industry (NBPI) has proven what’s possible when leaders act with urgency, collaboration, and heart. In 2026, that spirit comes to life again as City of Hope® looks ahead to a yearlong Spirit of Life® campaign focused on one shared goal: delivering hope, together.

The 2026 NBPI Spirit of Life campaign brings industry leaders, companies, and teams together to support lifesaving cancer research, treatment, and care. It’s a campaign rooted in what the NBPI does best—moving quickly, working collaboratively, and showing up for others when it matters most.

This year’s campaign is led by Greg Welchans, President and CMO of Distribution Management, who will also be honored as the 2026 Spirit of Life award recipient.

“The NBPI has a long history of stepping up for City of Hope,” Welchans shared. “This year is about continuing that legacy together—and delivering hope where it’s needed most.”

Leadership that Builds on Legacy

The Spirit of Life award is City of Hope’s most prestigious philanthropic honor, recognizing leaders whose values, service, and generosity help fuel innovation and improve lives. Greg’s recognition reflects not only his professional leadership, but also his commitment to honoring the philanthropic leaders who came before him—many of whom helped establish the NBPI’s enduring partnership with City of Hope.

“Greg represents the very best of this industry: decisive, collaborative, and deeply committed to giving back,” said Joe Watterson, vice president, corporate philanthropy at City of Hope. “As this year’s Spirit of Life honoree, he is helping to unite a community that understands the power of moving together with urgency and purpose to deliver hope to patients and families facing cancer.”

Since its founding in 1983, the NBPI has raised more than $250 million to support City of Hope and has honored many of the industry’s most influential figures. The 2026 campaign continues that tradition—celebrating leadership, honoring legacy, and inviting the entire industry to take part.

Advancing Cancer Care for Those Who Serve

Throughout the year, a portion of funds raised through the campaign will support cancer care for U.S. service members, veterans, and special forces—a population that faces higher rates of certain cancers, often at younger ages, than the general public.

Through the collective efforts of the NBPI community, City of Hope, in collaboration with TGen, is accelerating earlier detection and diagnosis, expanding advanced genomic profiling to better understand cancer risk, and delivering personalized, leading-edge treatment options for those who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.
