Current Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions
How can I access the online sign-in station link to log my volunteer service hours?
All volunteers must sign in and out when they are on the City of Hope premises. You can log your service hours using the online sign-in station link provided below. We suggest saving the website to your favorites or home screen for easy access on a mobile device. If you encounter any issues logging in, please email [email protected].
Volunteer Dashboard Information
The Volunteer Dashboard helps new volunteers through the onboarding process by letting them fulfill requirements, mandatory training, and health requirements online. It also assists active volunteers by giving them easy access to view schedules, service hours, upcoming annual compliance items, submit Leave of Absence requests, and more! You can find an overview in the Volunteer Guide - Volunteer Dashboard.
What should I do if I cannot come to my scheduled volunteer shift?
If you experience any symptoms of respiratory illness, DO NOT report to your scheduled volunteer service. Inform your site occupational health office and notify your department leader that you will not be able to come to your volunteer shift. You can also remove yourself from the schedule within the Volunteer Dashboard.
What is the uniform for in-person Volunteers?
- Uniform Top: Volunteers are required to wear a uniform top provided by the site.
- Badge: City of Hope photo identification (ID) Card must always be worn above the waist while on duty, with the picture side visible.
- Mandatory mask: Mask must be worn to always cover the nose and mouth in all patient areas.
- NOTE: jeans, leggings, and gym clothes are not part of the dress code.
Is there a leave of absence Policy?
Yes, the Leave of Absence Policy allows volunteers to take leave for up to 90 days. If a volunteer has no service hours after 90 days, they will be made inactive from the program and will need to ensure they are up to date with all compliance items upon returning. Volunteers can request leave by logging into the Volunteer Dashboard and selecting the "Request Leave" option from the menu.
What is the process for completing the annual compliance requirements, and how can volunteers ensure they meet them?
Volunteers who do not complete this requirement by the required due date will be made non-compliant and will be ineligible to volunteer.
Annual Compliance Exam (In-Person/Virtual Volunteers)
Volunteers must complete the annual compliance exam every January by logging in to the Volunteer Dashboard.
Flu Vaccine Compliance (In-Person Volunteers)

Volunteers will receive a reminder email before their birthday, as well as weekly reminders. Those who do not comply with these requirements will be ineligible to volunteer.
