New ‘breakthrough’ drug approved to treat pancreatic cancer

September 10, 2026

The FDA approved daraxonrasib (Rasonque), a breakthrough drug for advanced pancreatic cancer, offering improved treatment. The daily pill blocks a mutated protein, nearly doubling patient survival to 13.2 months in trials. City of Hope's Pashtoon Kasi, M.D., stated it is the 'best option we've ever had' for this deadly disease. Developed by Revolution Medicines, the drug targets KRAS mutations and is being studied for other cancer types.

TKD Mutation Status and CNS Data Guide Frontline Sequencing in HER2-Mutant NSCLC

Specialists are debating how mutation subtype and central nervous system involvement should guide frontline treatment for HER2-mutant non–small cell lung cancer. City of Hope's Edward S. Kim, M.D., M.B.A., emphasized considering adverse effects and brain protection with TKIs. Faculty discussed patient cases, generally favoring a TKI-first approach. Unmet needs include effective neoadjuvant therapy and dedicated trials establishing CNS efficacy, particularly for asymptomatic brain metastases.
